Manager of the Year - Cathy Leedom
The 2011 Manager of the Year is Administrative Officer Cathy Leedom who has contributed to our mission while demonstrating leadership, effective management of day-to-day operations, and overall professionalism. The list of critical tasks she continues to accomplish is too lengthy even to summarize. While most of it is behind the scenes, her work is a fundamental element to all of our operations, especially during these incredibly difficult economic times. Her wealth of knowledge in business management in addition to her frugal mindset is crucial to the District's success.

Employee of the Year - Kurt Rosenberg
PPO III Kurt Rosenberg is the 2011 Employee of the Year. A former Day In/Day Out Performer Award winner, Kurt has steadily worked his way up in the system and understands all facets of our mission. Although he consistently has the largest caseload in the District, he blends thorough supervision with thoughtful treatment and readily volunteers for other tasks and assignments. His patience and endurance are first-rate attributes that will serve him well considering his most recent promotion to run our new mental health supervision program.

Newcomer of the Year - Candace Collins
PPO I Candace Collins is the recipient 2011 Newcomer of the Year Award. Created in 2008, this award recognizes the outstanding accomplishments of either a new employee or an existing employee who recently assumed a new position. Candace has quickly becoming a go-to person for handling the most difficult cases considering her experience in working with mentally ill offenders. Given her previous experience in the CCU at the Iowa State Penitentiary, she has been able to positively impact residents of the Burlington Residential Facility with her case management skills and expertise in social work.
Team Excellence Award - ORF Staff The 2011 Team Excellence Award recognizes the entire staff of the Ottumwa Residential Facility. The members of this team have repeatedly faced adversity throughout this past year, but even as hardships and road blocks have emerged, the staff continues towards its goals in a productive, professional manner by pulling together and going above and beyond the call of duty. Considering the recent substantial staff turnover due to retirements and promotions, the feats of the staff at the Ottumwa Residential Facility are even more amazing.
