Providing an opportunity for change
Welcome.
The Eighth Judicial District Department of Correctional
Services is an independent public agency, with a 510
board of directors, created and established under Chapter
905 of the Code of Iowa to provide community correctional services to
the fourteen counties in southeast Iowa that comprise the Eighth
Judicial District:
Appanoose, Davis, Des Moines, Henry, Jefferson, Keokuk, Lee (North and
South), Louisa, Mahaska, Monroe, Poweshiek, Van Buren, Wapello and
Washington.
We provide comprehensive adult community corrections
programming in the Eighth Judicial District. Simply put, the
district provides all correctional services except prison incarceration.
The district does maintain two residential correctional facilities in
Burlington and Ottumwa, respectively. All district services and
programs are included in a group of intermediate criminal sanctions
ranging from no active supervision up to actual prison incarceration.
Basic community corrections services are offered in addition to a wide
array of special programs and treatment services.
This site is designed to better serve crime victims,
community members and offenders. To access general topics, simply follow
the links in the left column which also link to specific topics about
